Mechanical Engineering is one of the basic of engineering discipline having a very significant role in all spheres of human activity and plays a very vital role in the economic growth of any country. Presently it is the most coveted engineering discipline with respect to career prospects of young Engineering personnel.

Mechanical Engineering is the discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves production of energy from fuel, nuclear, hydraulics and other forms and their conversion for the proper utilization wherever necessary. The domain includes the design, production, and operation of many equipments or machineries that automates almost every task in our domestic world. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines.

It is the Mechanical Engineer who is involved right from the conceptual stage of a product up to taking the product to the customer.  Mechanical Engineer’s role is to design and manufacture individual components from the available basic raw materials and assemble them into small/medium/large equipments.  For this he/she has to understand the forces and the thermal environment that the product and subsystems would encounter, to design the product for their functionality, aesthetic features and finally to determine the best way to manufacture them and ensure the product would operate without failure.

This engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including graphics, mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, machine design, structural analysis, manufacturing technology etc. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more.

Around half of the total technology imported in our country is related to mechanical engineering. Similarly one third of the value of total imports is for mechanical engineering equipments.  Therefore in order to develop indigenously mechanical engineering technology for the industries, Indian Government is giving highest thrust in R&D in Mechanical Engineering.


Mechanical Engineering Department consists of highly qualified and experienced faculty who are committed to deliver premier education in the field of Mechanical and its related areas focusing on practical application.  All the faculty members of Mechanical Engineering are committed towards innovative approach in teaching methodologies so as to support every student identifying their strength and weakness. With an emphasis on individual based attention and fully equipped labs and workshops we ensure that ME students enjoy the excitement of doing everything in a different way.

Our present strength of faculty members is 12, headed by a Professor and supported by 3 Associate Professors and 8 Assistant Professors.  Our faculty team is rich with a highly qualified team of teachers with excellent exposure to industries.

Staff Advisory System

During 1st semester itself, each student of ME section is assigned to a faculty member designated as ‘Staff Advisor’. Staff advisor will continuously monitor the progress of the student, act as a mentor and supports him to face any challenges, guide him throughout his life in KVM CE & IT.  He assures a 360 degree growth of the student through continuous support in all curricular and extra-curricular matters. Finally he guide him to take further academic and career decisions.
